Sunny days,all winter long

Two bedrooms and a terrace above the Atlantic, in the quiet south of Tenerife. Between October and April it averages 22 to 27 °C and two rainy days a month. Stays from 32 days.

October to April, on this coast

Twenty-two degrees and two rainy days a month.

South Tenerife sits in Teide's rain shadow, on the same latitude as the Sahara and in the path of the trade winds. The result is the mildest winter in Europe — and it is measurable, not marketing.

The window that matters for a long stay is October to April. Here is what those months actually look like on the south coast — not the island average, which the cloudy north drags down.

The apartment

A terrace that works as an office

Shaded by a retractable awning, table for six, and the Atlantic in the gap between the buildings. This is where the laptop actually lives.

And a dining room after sunset

The same table, candles on it, the lights of the complex below and the ocean going dark. This is the second reason people stay a whole quarter.

A living room with two doors to the terrace

Light comes in from two sides all day. By late afternoon the whole room turns gold.

Two separate bedrooms

One opens straight onto the terrace. The second is quieter — for a guest, or for the desk when the sun is too bright outside.

A kitchen you can actually cook in

Oven, hob, dishwasher, full-size fridge, microwave and a washing machine. Not a two-day kitchenette.

Working from here

The practical part, answered before you ask

Fibre to the building

South Tenerife is served by fibre from Movistar, Vodafone, Orange and Digi, with symmetric tiers commonly sold from 300 Mbps to 1 Gbps, and 5G across the coast as a backup. Ask us for the current speed test before you book.

One clock, three markets

The Canaries run on WET — UTC+0 in winter. That is the same hour as London and Lisbon, one hour behind Madrid, Berlin and Warsaw, and four to five hours ahead of the US East Coast. A European day starts and ends normally; a US day starts after lunch.

A room for calls

Two bedrooms and a living room means one of you can take a call while the other keeps working. This is the thing studios cannot give you, and the reason most winter lets fail for couples.

Groceries, gym, pharmacy, doctor

Los Cristianos is twelve minutes by car, with two large supermarkets, private clinics, pharmacies and the ferry to La Gomera. A car is genuinely useful here — the local bus line runs eight times a day and stops at four in the afternoon.

A terrace that works as an office
The terrace table doubles as the desk. Shade from the awning until early afternoon, the ocean in the gap between the buildings, and the router two rooms away.

Questions

Asked and answered

How cold does it get in winter in south Tenerife?
It does not. The coldest month is January, averaging 21.7 °C by day and 15.2 °C at night at the Tenerife Sur station. You will want a jumper after sunset and nothing more.
What is the minimum stay?
Thirty-two days. Stays are let on a Spanish seasonal-tenancy contract, which requires a stated reason for the stay — remote work, a study period, a medical stay or a relocation — documented in the contract.
Is the internet good enough for video calls?
Yes. South Tenerife has fibre from four national operators with tiers commonly sold from 300 Mbps to 1 Gbps, plus 5G coverage along the coast as a fallback. Ask for a current speed test before booking.
What time zone are the Canary Islands in?
Western European Time, UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer. The same clock as the United Kingdom and Portugal, one hour behind mainland Spain, Germany and Poland.
Do I need a car?
Effectively yes. Palm-Mar is served by a single bus line with eight departures a day and nothing after four in the afternoon. Los Cristianos is a twelve-minute drive.
Can I bring a partner who also works?
That is what the layout is for. Two separate bedrooms plus a living room and a shaded terrace means two people can take calls at the same time.
Is the apartment also for sale?
Yes. It is available to buy, and available for seasonal stays until it sells. The specification and asking price are on this page.
What is calima?
A Saharan dust haze that occasionally reaches the Canaries, turning the sky milky and raising temperatures for a few days. It is a weather event, not a season, and it passes.
